BBT Basic Troubleshoot Checklist
We will keep updating with latest information as we run into and identify solid troubleshooting techniques.

Wont turn on?8-Pin CPU Power Plug24ATX Power PlugPower Supply Plugged in? (true story)Check all SATA/Molex connections for Risers (good connection/no bent 4pin pins)Power Switch good? Give it the ol'e screwdriver touch try?

If you check all of those off and still not working...listen if you hear any clicking when you try the to turn on (around the PSU area). Maybe a bad ground or one of your wires are loose in riser power, esp. on molex risers (4pin)

Turns on, but only 3-4 cards show up in OS/MiningCheck BIOS Settings

     - Enabled 4G Decoding
     - Changed PCI Express types from Auto to Gen2
Swap Risers around
6 or 8 Pin for GPU properly inserted
If working before, and windows 10, have autoupdate on? Prob updated your drivers
Have aggressive overclocks or undervolting, try stock for a few minutes

  1. I have a couple of ASUS PRIME Z270-A using Win10 pro but neither will run more than 6 cards. 6 cards, no probs. Card 7 added and the CPU fan will not spin at power up. EVGA 1600TU alone and EVGA 1300 plus a EVGA 1000 paired properly give the same result, which is nothing. It simply appears like the PSU is dead. Remove4 the 7th card and the system fires back up and works normally mining on 6. I followed your ASUS Prime setup guide(huge thanks) and created my driver package as instructed by Cryptomined. Using two risers per sata port on the PSU. I've tried moving risers around, swapping them out(I have a sack of 50 new version 6-7. They said to be 6, but many are 7) Nothing works. All tested and working risers connected in any order onto the mobo works up to 6 cards. I'm honestly baffled. Been mining since 2012. What could possibly be causing the PSU to appear dead once that 7th card sata is plugged into the PSU. I have not tried using perf with a molex riser.

Also where can I email you a short list of cards to get your vbioses? You just haven't posted any of mine since all mine are RX 580's. I don't buy the 570's if at all possible. (9 six card rx 480 rigs running, not a single 470 at my place.) Three Bitmain L3+'s arriving soon and the PSU's are waiting lol.

    1. I solved the problem and it should be shared here. The sata cable I was trying over and over and over and over to use, on two separate boards, and multiple PSU configs....the sata cable was bad. So when you get in the same situation and the results don't make any sense, try swapping out a known working cable. Had I done so early, I'd have saved myself a lot of headache.

  2. Hey guys, I have a replica setup of the RX570 Astrix video you have and want to know how you connect the 6 cards when the PSU only has 5 8pin slots when you use one for the cpu. First time doing this so not sure. Haven't see you guys do detail on that - simple I know but I don't want to f-up anything. The cables that come with the Corsair RM1000x are they enough? Any detail would be appreciated! ;)

  4. Hi BBT

I am running 6 x msi gtx 1060. Tried the move from zcash to ethereum as per video, or so I think. My hashrate per card is 2.7 max. I have exactly the same drivers and miner version as per video. Wind 10 64bit. I tried this now on 2 different rigs but get the same result. Can it be that my settings is wrong in config file? I have no clue how to proceed with trouble shooting. Tried all the normal stuff.....please help

    Regards
    Willem

  5. Hi guys - love your stuff site! I am running a 4 x nvidia 1070 rig on an Asrock z97 Anniversary MOBO - on Xubuntu 16.04. On Claymore my GPU performance was really up and down - 10-23Mh/s (per GPU!). Had issues with getting it to accept my found shares tonight so switched over to genoil. Only getting a total 44-47Mh/s (for all 4 GPUs). I've seen numbers as high as 25-27MH/s for these cards (without any BIOS mods). Any insights as to what I am doing wrong? Many thanks for any advice!

  6. I followed your video, overclocked my Rx 580. They ran perfect for just over a month. Now I can't get the rig to run more than an hour. out of the three cards I have, GPU 0, sometime GPU 2 quit. I've switched risers, ran without risers. Swapped MB, swapped PSU. Changed from smos to ethos. I'm at my wits end. Should I try defaulting the bios and staying with that?

  8. Hi,

I've having problems with 6xRx570 on Asus Z270-AR & Windows 10. Every time I put the 6th card in, my system restart. I tried with single PSU and dual PSU. Any thought? Thanks

    1. Do You have Your display connected to the card or to the MB? I had the same problem. When I connect more than 3 GPU's and change 4G decoding I have to switch the display to the GPU's. If it stays on MB graphic card my PC is reboting.

  9. One of my 5 GPU rigs shut itself of yesterday, had been running solid for weeks. I tried to power it back up and one of the cards started to smoke, think it was a PSU or GPU issue?

    1. I think that was a GPU issue. I can imagine that GPU's have probably some power protection systems in case of some power failures.

  10. Hi all, I need help.
    I'm using Asus Prime Z270P with 3x 1060 3GB and 3x 1060 6GB.
All cards are recognised on Win10 64bit, newest Nvidia drivers.
Problem is when I start miner my PC is shuting down.
On 4 GPU's mining works fine.
I thought that is something wrong with power supply so I add second one (1x 900W, 1x 750W) so first is supplying 3x GPU's and second another 3x GPU's --> situation is the same, PC is shuting down.
I tried swap the risers, cards, power supplyies to risers in all combinations and when I use 4 GPU's every card mine on every riser.
Can somebody have a clue why when I try to run miner on more than 4 GPU's my PC is shuting down?? Thx in advance

    1. This answer is WAY late since I don't check this place often. I never got a "P" board to run worth a dam and sent them back after days of frustration. After messing with BIOS settings I did finally get 6 cards running, but no more than 6 before giving up. The "A" and "AR" versions are fantastic, but the "P" is total crap for mining.

  11. Hi Mr. BBT,
I am very new to crypto mining. I have been watching your videos on you tube for the past couple of weeks or so. I wanted to say that I am very glad that I found you. I need some help with my first venture in mining. I just recently bought a Strix Radeon RX 580 8GB card to mine with. And I think at a good price at Microcenter, $308 bucks. I have installed the lates drivers for it. VR. 17.7.2 for the card. I have not done any moding to the bios of the card yet. I am having issues with Claymore 10. It starts up fine, goes through it startup bit then it will start to mine. But right away I will get the red GPU and FAN message. it will do this a few times then claymore dumps. I can not figure out why it is doing this and how to fix it. I really want to get into mining and buy a few more cards to mine with. However, if I can not get this problem resolved I will have to put this on the backburner. I am not sure what way to go next. Can you please help me with this problem? It would mean a great deal to me if you could. Also, how do I get notifications of your live streams and do you have an email address that I can send questions to? I truly appreciate what you do for us newbies, and for all the info and help that you give as well.
Thank you very much for any help you can give me,
    Dan

Currently i have 6 EVGA 1070 ti with the latest Window updates. 3 out of 6 GPU are getting code 43 and i have ran DDU several time and reinstall Nvidia driver with Window Update disabled. And to check the 3 GPU which are getting code 43, I have unplugged all but one of the GPU with code 43 and it works on it's own after DDU and Nvidia(388.43 - WHQL), but cant get all 6 GPU working. At this point i don't know what to do. any suggestion?
